What are three things you want to learn, and three things you can teach others to do?
Submitted by bookishbiker.
For me to learn:
I want to learn how to play the ukulele. This may happen sooner than you'd think. Very excited about this.
Massage. Starting massage school in <2 weeks. Yesssss! Here's to lots of learning/debt/no social life. Fear not...here's to life change.
An interpersonal relationship goal would be to both not be afraid to tell people I love them/and not be so discouraged when people disappoint me.
For me to teach:
I can teach someone how to boogie
I like to help children with crafts, that's closer to "guiding" though
To take responsibility for your actions. I mess things up quite often, but I'm pretty darn good at recognizing my faux pas and correcting...
Who would you call with your one phone call if arrested? (No lawyers!)
Being the little girl that I sometimes stll am...first thought was "mommie". My second, more intelligent answer would be my friend Cat. She'd be there in a snap.
What was your worst hairstyle decision ever?
At the age of 22 on a very lonely night, I decided to be my own hair dresser. I was working as a receptionist at a salon and had a very "it's just hair" attitude. I'd also been up all night doing sketches of Audrey Hepburn, and was very inspired by her cropped cut. I stood in front of the bathroom mirror and just started cutting away. I wish I'd had a video camera then, because those scenes where the women cut off all of their hair are always so dramatic, and if done realistically, can only happen once. Remember when Felicity cut off her hair? How about Demi Moore in G.I. Jane? Alison Lohman in White Oleander?
Anyway, it was a bad decision aesthetically, but made me feel very empowered at the time. I also was begining to wonder if people thought I was a lesbian. What tipped me off to this perception was when one of my women's studies obviously gay classmates asked if I was a lesbian. I was also wearing lots of alligator shirts/cords/chucks at that time. Oh yeah, and I wieghed around 15 more lbs than I do now. The reason Audrey pulled this off so well is she wieghed no more than 90 lbs. Not a good look for me, but definitely humbling.
What are your deal breakers in a relationship?
There are OH SO MANY. I'm a picky one. Lately I haven't wanted to GET in a relationship for this reason. I always find something wrong with the person and have to let them down. I think I have the Seinfeld syndrome. Does this mean I'm insecure? I couldn't be insecure. I'm confident. Right. Right?????
#1 Deal breaker is clingyness. This doesn't happen a lot to females, usually it's the other way around, but when it does, I'm out of the door!
#2 Chauvinism. Blech! Still so much of that going around. Usually when you call assholes out on it they always say whatever they meant was in jest. These chauvinists are also Jesters.
#3 Bad manners. Gross eating. Being late all of the time. Forgetting to call. If 2 out of these four are in play, you've probably exercised something on THEIR deal breaker list so just cut your losses and move along.
#4 Control Freakness. Now, I like a little take charge surprise every now and again, but DO NOT try to tell me what to wear, how to drive, or manage my money. Or HOG THE REMOTE. DO NOT HOG THE REMOTE.
It's Graduation time. What superlatives would you give to your Vox neighbors?
I'll do the people I know best/seem to check their vox often...
Class Clown: John
Best Photographer: Oliver
Sweetest: Tara
Most Stylish: it's a tie between Erika and Ele
Most Musical: Dave
What are some charitable causes that you support or would like to support?
I like Cause For Paws thrift shop. Tons of great cheap furniture, lots of old jewelry. I could get lost in this place for hours. I dropped by on Tuesday to unload all of the "undesirables" from my clothing swap I had this past Sunday. There were two huge bags of clothes left over from the event. I prefer swaps any day over consignment. I haven't had much luck with Creative Consignments on Morgan-you barely get any money back for the clothes you turn in. Much better to not spend any money and get a few goodies for yourself while getting rid of all the junk. I'm attempting to be as minimalist as possible with my impending move. Wish me luck, muscles, and decorative genius.
What's one family recipe that you wish you knew how to cook?
I wish I knew how to cook my stepdad's Chocolate Chess Pie. As a complete chocoholic, I can't resist the temptation that is this cocoa goodness. He makes them at least once a year, along with his all time famous apple pie. The recipe he uses was actually swiped from Angus Barn. I believe he either found it in a newspaper article or just asked at the restaurant. It's fairly simple, but I've yet to attempt. Fudge is the latest of my cooking ventures- if I do say so myself, it's turned out nicely. So far I've done dark chocolate & raspberry, peanut butter, white chocolate (this really just tastes like icing-I don't recommend), and straight up chocolate-eee goodness. It's really simple to make, but deadly if you are trying to trim down which unfortunately is my fate.
Another one I'd like to try is what used to be Vertigo's Chili Lime Soup. Delicious!
