I think that it's pretty rediculous that not a single word regarding the fabulousness that is this video has been uttered from the mouths of those I know and love. I like to think of this as a modernized version of Land of 1,000 Dances. Watch the end. Convert to the ways of Beyonce!
Just got back from Bowerbirds at Blend (formerly Wetlands). I'm not sure how well this translates through video only, but I will say that in person, they are pure delight. David, Jason, Cat and I showed up way too early, sitting through 3 bands before they went on. I just received the new album in the mail 2 days ago, so the newer songs were very fresh-made seeing them live much more engaging. Their rythmic approach is always completely unexpected, yet the beats go with the songs so well.
Lyrically what may seem cheesy said by others is completely beautiful/true/meaningful when spoken from the mouth of Bowerbirds:
From "Hooves":
Back to when I was born on a full moon
I nearly split my mama in two
And while she held me proud I had the thought
Well there is no one more beautiful than you
Holy hell. I absolutely lutely can NOT wait to see these two. The Fiery Furnaces are coming to Raleigh. WHAT!? Oh yes, that is correct. The singer, Eleanor sings about her dog, going into the woods to make magic potions, and being in no mood to comb her hair. One of their albums is sung with the bro and sis duos' grandma. It is the weirdest most fantastic concept album. It's even scary at times, and reminds you a bit of when soap operas were listened to over the radio, rather than watched on TV. I've heard that they sometimes play more "rock" versions of their songs rather than the quirky keyboards. I guess it translates better live. 1 week until. Peeing-in-the-pants excited.
Pout.
I went to go pick up a few things yesterday after work, and my old teacher wasn't there. Well, she was there, but she was giving a lesson. I picked up some very important items though. I've been listening to a lot of Bonnie Raitt (as usual) and so of course was inspired to buy a slide. I tried it when I got home. Note: slides are HARD. I'm not really sure if there's something I'm missing here, but dang..it sounds poopie now. I'll have to practice more.
I was sad to have missed her, but I did hear back through email. I'm really fascinated with her as of late and hope to see her sometime soon...
I love her sense of humor here.
